What makes a dope record???
My friends and I argue constantly about who's hot and who's wack. I personally am a fan of the undergrounds' underground. Right now I listen to a lot of Lupe, Blu, Jay Electronica, J.Cole, and K'naan. I'm a fan lyricists. So the other artists that I may pay attention to all tend to be lyricists. As much as people hate..Drake can flat out rap. Lyrically he's better than a lot of people. Fab is another one..not so much lately, but Fab is a lyricist. Period! I respect lyricists.
But does that make a good song? I finally got around to listening to Kid Cudi...and he is not a lyricist...AT ALL....at least not in my book...But he puts so much emotion behind his music..you can't ignore it. his album strait through it very dope. So is it "emotion" that makes a record dope?? Some of the best albums were driven off of pure emotions regarding content
Gnarls Barkley- St Elsewhere and Kanye-808 and Heartbreak stick out in my mind at the moment.
WHAT DO YOU THINK??

Serena Apologizes
Serena Williams made her first return to Arthur Ashe Stadium since her threatening outburst at a line judge Saturday night. Williams came onto the court at 1:08 p.m. with her sister Venus for their doubles final against Liezel Huber and Cara Black to a smattering of cheers from the sparsely attended match.
There were no boos heard from the sparse crowd when Williams was announced then, or when she was announced by the umpire during warm-ups. One woman shouted before play began, “Go Serena,” and a few minutes later another yelled, “We love you Serena.”

[Kanye/Joe Wilson]Recent Signs that Race is Still an Issue…
I'm sure we all saw Kanye West's foolish antics at the VMA's last night, and were all repulsed by it. I personally think Kanye was 100% in the wrong for stealing that girls shine, but his assessment wasn't to far off. Then of course Beyonce won video of the year so he looked silly anyway. But I find it unnerving when I go on Twitter after wards, white people are just calling Kanye "Nigger" like we just watched the premiere of Roots. [Click here for more]. While Kanye was wrong, the fact that people resort to calling him a "Nigger" so openly, lets me know racism is alive and breathing in this country.
Racism was also very prevalent in President Obama's health care speech last week when Republican politician Joe Wilson began screaming at the president mid speech. Would this ever happen to a white president? We've never seen such blatant disrespect at a presidential event, until the the man in charge had brown skin.
